How appointments work, lead times, and what to do if you're not sure where to start.
How do I book an appointment?
All appointments are booked online through the booking page. Select your service, choose a date and time, and secure your spot with a deposit. If you are a new client or unsure which service is right for you, starting with a consultation is the better first step.
Do you accept walk-ins?
No. All appointments are scheduled in advance. This ensures every client receives LaKeisha's full, undivided attention — not a rushed version of the service while the schedule shifts around them.
How far in advance should I book?
One to two weeks is a reasonable lead time for most services. Color work, bridal appointments, and new-client consultations benefit from more runway — aim for three to four weeks, or longer during busy seasons. Spring and the holiday period fill quickly.
Can I book multiple services in one appointment?
Yes, when the combination makes sense for your hair and enough time can be blocked. Make a note in the booking form or reach out beforehand so the schedule reflects what the appointment actually requires. Some combinations — color with a cut, or a treatment before a color service — are common and easy to accommodate.
I'm a new client — where do I start?
Start with a consultation, especially if you are considering color, a significant change, or have any concerns about your hair's current condition. The consultation is free, takes about ten minutes to request, and gives LaKeisha the context she needs to serve you well from the very first appointment.
What a consultation involves, when it's required, and how to request one.
What is a consultation and is it required?
A consultation is a dedicated conversation about your hair — its history, current condition, and where you want to take it. It is required before certain services (color correction, significant changes, bridal work) and strongly recommended for all new clients. It is free, takes about ten minutes to request, and results in a clear, honest plan before any commitment is made.
How do I request a consultation?
Fill out the intake form on the Consultation page. LaKeisha reviews every submission personally and follows up within 48 hours to schedule a call or message exchange, depending on what makes the most sense for your situation.
Is the consultation free?
Yes. There is no cost and no commitment attached to a consultation. If, at the end of the conversation, a direct booking is the right next step, you will know exactly what to book and what to expect from it.
What happens after the consultation?
LaKeisha will follow up within 48 hours of receiving your intake. After your conversation, you will have a clear picture of what services make sense, what is realistic for your hair right now, and what to expect from a first appointment. There is no pressure and no obligation to book.
How deposits work, what they cover, and payment methods accepted.
Is a deposit required to book?
Yes. A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking to hold your appointment. The deposit is applied to your service total at checkout — it is not an additional charge, just the first part of your payment.
Is the deposit refundable?
The deposit is non-refundable if an appointment is cancelled with less than 48 hours notice. If you cancel or reschedule with adequate notice, the deposit transfers to your rebooked appointment and is not forfeited.
What forms of payment are accepted?
Deposits are processed through the online booking system at the time of scheduling. At the appointment, final payment is accepted by major credit and debit cards. Please note that cash is not accepted.
The cancellation and rescheduling policy, and what happens with no-shows.
What is the cancellation policy?
Please cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours before your appointment. Cancellations within that window forfeit the deposit. If something comes up, reach out as early as possible — LaKeisha understands that life is unpredictable, and early communication is always appreciated.
What if I need to reschedule?
Rescheduling with at least 48 hours notice is always welcome. Your deposit transfers to the new appointment with no additional charge. Rescheduling within 48 hours of the appointment is treated the same as a late cancellation — the deposit is forfeited.
What happens if I miss my appointment without notice?
No-shows — appointments missed without any contact — are charged the full service amount. After two no-shows, future bookings require full prepayment. This policy exists to protect time that could have been given to another client.
What to do if you're running behind, and how much of a delay is too much.
What should I do if I'm running late?
Please reach out as soon as you know you will be delayed. Arriving up to 10 minutes late is generally manageable for most services. Beyond that, the appointment may need to be shortened or rescheduled, depending on what is booked and what follows in the schedule — out of respect for your results as much as for other clients.
Is there a grace period for late arrivals?
There is a reasonable allowance for minor delays, but it varies by service. Color work and longer appointments have less flexibility than a cut. If you anticipate arriving more than 15 minutes late, please reach out in advance — it is always better to communicate early than to arrive and find the appointment cannot be completed as planned.
How to arrive ready — what to wash, skip, and bring to your appointment.
How should I prepare my hair before my appointment?
Come with clean, fully dry hair unless otherwise instructed. Avoid heavy oils, dry shampoo, or product buildup in the 48 hours before your visit. If you have reference photos, bring them — they are one of the most useful tools in the initial conversation, even if the final approach is adjusted based on your hair.
Should I wash my hair before a color appointment?
Do not wash your hair within 24 hours of a color appointment. Natural oils create a protective barrier on the scalp during processing. The day before is ideal — arrive in clean-but-not-just-washed hair. Avoid dry shampoo and heavy styling products on the day of your appointment.
Should I bring reference photos?
Yes. Reference photos communicate texture, tone, length, and finish faster than any description. Bring a few that reflect what you are drawn to — and, if helpful, examples of what you want to avoid. LaKeisha may offer a variation that suits your hair better, but the photos give her a useful and specific starting point.
Whether extensions are offered, and what to know before pursuing them.
Do you currently offer extensions?
Extensions are not on the current service menu — they are planned for a future date. If you are interested, you are welcome to submit a consultation request. LaKeisha can advise on whether your hair is a good candidate and point you in the right direction in the meantime.
What types of extensions work best for fine or fragile hair?
Lighter application methods — tape-in wefts and hand-tied extensions — tend to be gentler on fine or fragile hair than heavier alternatives. The right choice depends on several factors including density, texture, scalp health, and lifestyle. A thorough consultation is essential before any extension service, regardless of hair type.
How do I know if my hair is ready for extensions?
Healthy, structurally intact hair is the baseline requirement for any extension service. Hair that is significantly damaged, over-processed, or actively breaking is not a good candidate until its condition improves. A healthy hair treatment to establish a strong foundation is often the right first step — even before the extension conversation begins.
Realistic expectations for color work, correction, and what multiple sessions mean.
Can I go blonde from dark hair in one session?
It depends on your starting point, hair health, and how light you want to go. A single session can take you a meaningful distance in the right direction — but responsible lifting prioritises the health of your hair above speed. A consultation is the right place to set realistic expectations and build a plan that accounts for your hair's actual condition.
How many sessions will a significant color change take?
For major changes — going considerably lighter, correcting previous color, or working on compromised hair — two or more sessions spaced several weeks apart is common. LaKeisha will be direct with you about what is achievable in one visit and what requires a staged approach. Rushing the process is never the recommendation.
What is color correction and do I need it?
Color correction addresses previous color that has gone wrong — unwanted tones, uneven results, box dye damage, or the aftermath of a DIY attempt. It requires a consultation before any appointment is booked, as the process, timeline, and number of sessions vary significantly depending on what the hair has been through.
Will color damage my hair?
Any chemical process changes the hair structure to some degree. The goal is to achieve your desired result while keeping the hair as healthy as possible throughout. LaKeisha takes a conservative approach to lift and timing, and she will not proceed with a service she does not believe the hair can handle in its current condition. If a treatment is needed first, she will say so.
How to protect your results at home and how often to return.
How do I maintain my results between appointments?
The right routine depends on your service. LaKeisha walks every client through specific care instructions at the end of the appointment — product recommendations, washing frequency, and anything particular to what was done. A sulphate-free shampoo for color-treated hair, limited heat exposure, and timely maintenance appointments all help preserve the result between visits.
How soon can I wash my hair after a color service?
Wait at least 48 to 72 hours after a color service before washing. This allows the color molecules time to fully settle and significantly extends the life of the result. When you do wash, use cool or lukewarm water and a color-safe, sulphate-free shampoo.
Can I use heat tools after my appointment?
It depends on the service. After any chemical process — color, a keratin treatment, or anything involving developer — minimising heat for the first few days allows the hair to stabilise. For cuts and non-chemical services, heat styling is generally fine. LaKeisha will advise on anything specific to your service at the end of the appointment.
How often should I come in for maintenance?
It varies by service and personal preference. For cuts, every 8 to 12 weeks maintains most shapes well. Color — highlights, balayage, or gloss work — typically needs refreshing every 8 to 14 weeks depending on your desired look and growth rate. LaKeisha makes a specific recommendation at the end of each appointment based on your hair and what was done.
